Jigawa Government Reaffirms Commitment to Continuous Training of Hisbah Guards

The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the continuous training and retraining of Hisbah personnel to enhance professionalism, discipline, and effective service delivery across the state.

The Secretary to the Jigawa State Government (SSG), Malam Bala Ibrahim, gave the assurance while addressing participants at a week-long general training programme for Hisbah guards at the General Yakubu Gowon NYSC Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Dutse.

Malam Bala Ibrahim, who also chairs the Hisbah Board Steering Committee, expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout and conduct of the trainees, assuring them of the government’s continued support in providing a conducive environment for their training.

He emphasised the importance of physical fitness in Hisbah operations, noting that the participants had demonstrated the capacity and readiness to meet the demands of their responsibilities.

The SSG further clarified that the recruitment of more than 2,500 Hisbah guards was based on competence and genuine interest in serving the state, rather than political considerations.

He described Jigawa State as one of the most peaceful states in the country and called for sustained prayers and collective efforts to preserve the prevailing peace and security.

Earlier, the Commandant General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board, Dr. Muhammad Faiz Bashir Haruna, described the training programme as a landmark initiative aimed at transforming Hisbah operations and setting a new standard for professionalism and service delivery.

He also commended Governor Malam Umar Namadi, FCA, for his commitment to strengthening the Hisbah Board and elevating its operational capacity to a standard worthy of emulation.

In his remarks, the Secretary of the Hisbah Board, Barrister Mustapha Habu, disclosed that more than 2,500 personnel, including 250 women, were participating in the intensive training programme. He added that the exercise had recorded no reports of misconduct among the trainees.

The initiative underscores the Jigawa State Government’s commitment to building a disciplined, competent, and well-trained Hisbah workforce capable of contributing meaningfully to public welfare, community safety, and the preservation of peace and moral values across the state.
